Our client bought this home with a vision of completing a major historic restoration project. He did extensive online research, eventually finding historical photos of the home that we used when restoring the exterior. In addition he wanted to complete major building performance upgrades, making the home more comfortable, efficient, durable and healthy.
There were two primary facets of this project: the exterior renovation and building performance upgrades. The exterior renovations involved lead paint mitigation; extensive repair work of the existing siding; replacing the existing roof with cedar shingles which included a turret; and rebuilding the front porch and its foundation. Greg Robinson Architect was a vital part of this project, guiding us in restoring the historic details of this amazing home.
The building performance upgrades involved blowing in insulation, completing extensive air sealing and installing new heating, electrical and plumbing systems. Additionally we restored the original wood windows and built custom wood storm windows.
