When you live somewhere for two decades, you create deep roots and endless memories. Realizing this inspired our lovely clients to choose to remodel. To invest in their beloved Columbia neighborhood rambler rather than move to something larger. Built in the 1940’s, the historic home was in great shape but needed more space, better flow, and a full refresh, all with the next generation in mind.
The scope of work was significant: the roofline was rebuilt, the basement was excavated, classic arched doorways and fireplace were restored. All the windows and doors were replaced and new exterior and siding installed. At its peak, the transformation was so dramatic that neighbors stopped to watch as the old roof came off and the new one went on.
Interior designer, Tawny Hixson brought her expertise to the remodel, ensuring the space remains functional, comfortable, and beautiful for decades to come. The backyard received equal love. Project Landworks installed a new fenced vegetable garden and trellis, complementing the existing rose and peony garden. We’ve heard that the new spa on the spacious back deck gets used daily!
In the end, we’re all thrilled with the result. Best of all, the homeowners can’t believe it’s the same house they’ve lived in for more than 20 years, and they have fallen in love with it all over again.
